SWIMMING PHOTOGRAPHY
I grew up in the pool and in the ocean, so when the chance comes along to cover some events in the water, I can never pass down the opportunity. I have had the amazing honour and privilege to cover various open water swimming and triathlon events over the years. Swimming brings its own whole new tricks and challenges to getting the perfect shot as the athlete is almost never visible. It has taught me that perfect timing is key and you sometimes only get that one chance to get the image, a challenge I thrive on. I always will try new things and new angles that other photographers aren't trying, as well as trying to grab those images that athletes and the press love. It is a discipline I love personally and its one I love to express through my images.

Midmar Mile 2020
In 2020, I had the amazing opportunity to cover the Midmar mile for Racefood as well as the press. It was 2 days of complete contrast when it comes to the weather, Saturday was pouring with rain and misty, while Sunday was hot and Sunny. I used my knowledge I have gained over the years to just to the constantly changing light. I had so much fun the entire weekend, trying my best to get those sneaky unique shots as well as those podium winning shots the press are after. Its always a challenge shooting around water, you need be super cautious about dropping the camera and making sure your gear is safe. I'm use to working in extremely challenging environments and I believe it always benefits me around the water and shooting in bad weather. |

Midmar Mile 2017
In 2017 I had the amazing opportunity to shoot the Aquelle Midmar Mile for title sponsor Aquelle as well as the press. I had the chance and ability to go on the water which gave me a chance to shoot some tight shots of swimmers. It is much easier said than done though, as the shot needs to be timed perfectly with a swimmers breathing. I however enjoy this challenge and found it fun and rewarding when I got it right. Its always a challenge shooting around water, you need be super cautious about dropping the camera and making sure your gear is safe. I'm use to working in extremely challenging environments and I believe it always benefits me around the water and shooting in bad weather. |
