Biggarsberg Cycle Challenge - Dundee

Just over a week ago, I had the amazing pleasure of photographing the inaugural edition of the Biggarsberg Cycle Challenge in Dundee, KZN.
It promised to be a truly unique event, as it started and ended at the famous Talana Museum, where a lot of South Africas most iconic stories from our history is told.

before the sun came up, rather chilly temperatures graced the riders, with most keeping on as many layers as possible until the event started. However, once the sun decided to show its rays over the mountains, it slowly started to warm up to a more pleasant and bearable temperature.
For someone who lives on the east coast, it was great to feel that winter chill again, but at the same time it was also great to come home afterwards to much more bearable mornings!

The event compromised of 2 distances, a 75km route as well as a 35km route, both routes taking you out of town and then bringing you back. It was an amazing chance for some riders to soak up the iconic scenery that they were riding through; if they weren't suffering too much that is, and just enjoy the peaceful sounds of the KZN inland region.
It wasn't all downhill and flat roads either, there was some nice challenging hills for the riders to tackle, this always makes for great photos! So well done to everyone who make it to the top of all of them.

The event also hosted a small market, which gave supporters and loved ones something to do while the athletes were out on course. From food stalls, to clothing stalls and even the opportunity to explore Talana museum and all its iconic heritage, there was something for everyone.

A massive well done to everyone who took part, and a special well done to all the category winners! I am sure to hopefully see you again next year.
