On Tuesday morning, Maritzburg United invited the media to a special press briefing where they were expected to unveil the much anticipated head coach. The club and chairman, Farook Kadodia, had answered the calls from the club supporters to finally appoint interim coach Fadlu Davids to the Head Coach position. Davids, who took over as interim coach on various occasions after the departures of former head coaches Roger De Sà and Ernst Middendorp, had driven the club to much success to the delight of the Harry Gwala faithful. Davids helped deliver the club to a record breaking 7th place finish on the PSL log at the end of last season. His goals and mandate for the coming season have been made pretty clear by the chairman, who wants an even better finish from the new Head Coach and be in a position to compete for some silverware. Davids addressed the press with quiet confidence, he emphasized his excitement at taking the top job, where he was eager to lead by example and hopefully achieve his and the clubs goals set before him!
I personally can not wait for this coming season, and it would be a great honor to capture the Team of Choice for another season of entertaining football! Until next time Boogs
